Book Review – Always Be My Banshee by Molly Harper – 4 stars

Warning: May contain spoilers, but opening comments are spoiler-free. Check out my Reading Ranting page for more.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Two completely new characters, Cordelia and Brendan, join the league to investigate the strange energy in Mystic Bayou. What I especially love about all of these books is that the characters are all adults with adult responsibilities, but they’re also finding out new things about themselves and rethinking their outlook on life.

The other fun thing is that they’re also silly. I find this missing in a lot of adult fiction. Molly pulls off a nice balance of mature adults with silly moments to lighten the mood and be more realistic for me.

What I liked…

More new characters with new abilities.

More of the story on the rift.

More fun and shenanigans in Mystic Bayou.

What I didn’t like…

This might be a good thing for many readers, but it’s a little predictable now. Sure, the twist as to who the culprit is makes it interesting, but the story structure is the same in all the books. I’m still addicted.

Final thoughts…

I honestly can’t recommend these books enough if you like easy-read adult fantasy fiction with everyday life issues. I’ve actually finished the series now but am slow to post all the reviews since I went through the books so quickly.
